Today, Telesign announced the formation of the Trust Alliance, a group of digital trust leaders who will share insights and best practices that any organization can use to bolster their fraud protections and build trust with their customers and other important stakeholders.
I’d like to take some time to walk you through some of the questions people inside and outside the organization have asked about this initiative, as well as my answers to those questions.
How did the Trust Alliance come about?
Last year Telesign began polling consumers about digital fraud. We were struck to learn that the vast majority (87%) said that it is the companies they transact with who are responsible for protecting them from digital fraud. And more than a third of consumers said they take it out on a brand by telling their friends and family not to associate with the brand when they believe a company did not take enough steps to protect them from a fraud incident.
Given that so much of peoples’ lives are conducted online, at Telesign, we see trust as the currency of the digital economy. We know that once it’s lost, it can be very hard to win back. That’s why we get up each day to develop solutions that organizations can use to defend against digital fraud. But our products are only one part of a larger puzzle. We want to promote guidance, from leading experts, that any organization can access to learn about how to build and maintain trust. This is what inspired us to launch the Trust Alliance.
What is the charter of the Trust Alliance?
Our goal is to amplify the insights and best practices of Trust Alliance members. We want to showcase their approaches through content that any organization—large, small, corporate, governmental, or nonprofit—can access for free. The content will include expert guidance about more robust internal processes, employee training, technical considerations, and more. Overall, we hope to help people better understand how to think about, and take responsibility for, fraud protection.
Is there any Trust Alliance content planned?
Telesign will feature and promote Trust Alliance members’ expertise through various activities, including complimentary content, events, speaking engagements, and more. The first piece of content is a new white paper, “The Currency of Business: How Experts Gain and Maintain Digital Trust in their Organizations” written by Grace Trinidad, Research Director for IDC’s Future of Trust Practice. Grace interviewed several Trust Alliance members, whose insights appear in the piece. She also points out, based on IDC research, that organizations that invest in trust “enjoy greater customer loyalty, increased market share, increased collaboration and innovation—and increased customer willingness to use novel technologies like AI and GenAI.”
Who makes up the Trust Alliance?
The Trust Alliance includes experts in cybersecurity, digital identity, and product development. It includes a leader from Microsoft, who leads a team responsible for identity and access management programs, and security strategies for emerging technologies. We have a fraud expert and product lead from digital identity firm Persona, and a longtime Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) who lectures at Northeastern University on Information Security Management and Network Security. The Trust Alliance includes a mobile identity pioneer at Global Telco Consult (GTC), and the Senior Director of Operations for B2C e-commerce fulfillment solution provider Radial Payment Solutions. We’re incredibly proud to be able to work with these experts and showcase what they know.
