Los Angeles – Feb. 21, 2012Telesign, a market leader in Internet fraud prevention and intelligent authentication, today announced the U.S. Patent Office’s award of Patent No. 8,117,106 for Telesign’s TeleBureau, a clearinghouse for submission of fraud activity from online businesses and merchants. Patented on February 14, 2012, TeleBureau will serve as a resource for defrauded websites to easily report fraud and cybercrime.

TeleBureau is the industry’s first comprehensive resource for defrauded websites to easily report spam, fraud, and cybercrime by using a phone number as a unique identifier. Telesign is already receiving data from many of the largest online merchants and businesses to bolster the proprietary data sources feeding TeleBureau. Products based on TeleBureau data will be announced early in the second half of 2012.

“Without effective information sharing, fraudsters can move from site to site, committing crimes without ever being caught.” said Darren Berkovitz, co-founder and vice president, Telesign. “TeleBureau enables companies to report and block fraud associated with phone numbers without having to share sensitive or private information.”
